I was pretty sure when I bought my 42 that the bridge was coming off. I did run it one season just to make sure it wasn’t the cats ass like so many claim. In the end I just didn’t like running the boat from up there so off it came.
I spent a few days disconnecting the steering from the bridge, the shift and throttle cables, and sent all the wiring back down the chases. The only wires that need connecting from the bridge were the ignition wires, they run through the bridge. There’s 4 through bolts that go through into the cabin top in the window channel, plus copious amounts of screws at the leading edge and back of the cockpit of the bridge. I then slid it back onto the hardtop where the marina could lift it all off as a unit with the Wiggins.
Taking the bridge and hardtop home
I sealed all the holes with 3m 4000uv. Down the line this will get all glassed over.
I finally got tired of the bridge taking up space in my barn, and disposed of it today. Warning Graphic content for bridge lovers 😁
